Five Dad Types, and the Father's Day gifts they will love
Father's Day is coming up this month, on Sunday 21 June, and if you are thinking about a gift for a dad or a father figure, we are here to make it as easy as possible.
We chat to gift buying customers all day in our Edinburgh shop, and over the years we have come to know the sorts of dads people are shopping for. Here are five of our favourites, with our pick of gifts for each.
Everything is packed by hand with a note from us, delivery is free over £59, and you can add gift wrapping at the checkout. If you would rather see the lot in one place, here is the full Father's Day collection.
For the outdoorsy dad
He loves his BBQ, his pots and plants, or all three at once. The HAY Outdoor Market BBQ in stainless steel is a proper centrepiece for the garden, and a ferm Living Bau plant pot (from £55) gives his greenery a smarter home. Plenty more in our outdoorsy and gardening gifts.

For the homebody
The dad happiest at home deserves the small things that make a day nicer. Think a handmade mug for his morning coffee, a Fine Little Day Golfers cushion to make him smile, or a Borja Moronta bowl to lift his daily granola. For cosy evenings, the Yoko Wool Siberian slippers (£32.95) in pure merino are hard to beat. Lots more at the full Father's Day collection.

For the foodie father
Condiments, good kitchen tools, award winning chocolate. This is the dad who lives for food and cooking. Start with Nicolas Vahé salt with parmesan and basil, add a Nicolas Vahé set of three cheese knives (£25), and finish with a bar or two of Bare Bones chocolate from Glasgow (from £7.50). See the full foodie edit.

For the organised dad
A smart wallet for his notes and cards might be just the upgrade he did not know he needed. A Secrid wallet is slim, protected against card scanning and properly made, the sort of thing he will reach for every day for years. Have a look at our wallets and card protectors.

For the dad who has everything
When he needs nothing in particular, give him something that makes him laugh. Meg Fatharly's little embossed tin prints do exactly that, from 'Please be patient with me, I'm from the 1900s' to plenty more. See all of Meg Fatharly's tiny prints.

Still stuck?
If you really cannot decide, a Lifestory gift voucher (£10 to £100) works online and in the shop, lasts twelve months, and lets him pick the thing that is truly him.
And do not forget the card
A handwritten card finishes the gift. We have a lovely range of Father's Day cards, and if you choose gift wrapping we will write your message inside and pop it in with the parcel.
