Local Scottish Makers

Local Scottish makers are integral to Lifestory's buying ethos. It is a delight to be able to stock and share so many wonderful local Scottish artists and small makers. There is an impressive amount of energy, skill, passion and thought poured into each makers' work, and you can really tell when you hold the pieces in your hand.

We stock everything from jewellery, such as Edinburgh's Behind Bracken with their recycled silver and fairmined gold jewellery, to ceramicists based in Scotland like Borja Moronta and Emporium Julium, to delicious chocolate from Bare Bones of Glasgow.

Local Scottish Makers

Are the pieces handmade?

Many are made entirely by hand, including the ceramics and jewellery, so each piece carries small natural variations and is effectively one of a kind.

Can I buy Scottish makers' work online and have it delivered?

Yes. We ship across the UK and to the USA and Northern Ireland, with every order packed by hand and a note included.

Do you have gifts by Scottish makers under £20?

Yes, plenty, from Bare Bones chocolate and Tecari Designs cards to Dook soaps and Hidden Scotland magazine.

Can I see these makers in your Edinburgh shop?

Yes, you will find our maker pieces in our shop at 53 London Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6LX, alongside free Click and Collect.

How do you choose your makers?

We choose each one ourselves, led by the quality of the work and a genuine connection to Scotland, which is why the collection changes and grows over time.
